INTRODUCTION

Women have long been considered the weaker sex, much to the protestations of feminists everywhere. Unfortunately, this stereotype exists even today in the 21st century. Perhaps that’s why violent crimes against women are at an all-time high.

All women live with a certain level of risk for crime. In fact, a 21-year-old woman today has a 1 in 4 chance of having a violent crime committed against her. These crimes range from the shocking such as rape to simply intrusive like car jacking or purse snatching.

What’s even scarier is that often, the crimes committed against women happen in their own homes by a loved one like a husband or boyfriend. What a horrible feeling to have to worry about your safety and well being in the place where you should feel safest.

The answer to combating crimes against women isn’t as difficult as you might think. All women can benefit from self-defense hints and tips. Some just don’t see the need at all. But one victim gives the following to think about when considering whether or not you need to know at least a few self-defense measures.

INTRODUCTION
I got my first camera when I was ten years old. It was one of those slim little Kodak models that took 110 film and required a separate flash that clicked onto the top. Sometimes the flash wouldn’t work and you’d waste a picture, or when you finally got your pictures developed, you’d find a lot of them out of focus or completely not what you wanted.

My grandson will be getting his first camera for Christmas this year. It’s a digital camera in bright colors with a nice, big preview screen where he can look at the pictures he’s taken and delete them if he wants to. He’s three years old.

The business and pleasure of photography has come a long way since the first patent was issued for a camera in 1840. Over the years, we’ve seen cameras get smaller and smaller, move from separate flashes to built-in flashes, and finally to the absence of film with the digital camera.

Photography is a pastime that is growing in popularity with the rise in digital cameras and the ease with which an everyday person can obtain a beautiful photograph. No longer is it necessary to haphazardly take pictures and hope you got the shots you really wanted.

No longer will you have to make a special trip to get film processed. No longer will you have to wait three or four days just for your prints. Now, there are so many options including simply printing out your pictures on your home printer.

Touching up and manipulating pictures has also been made easier, no longer required to be performed by a photography expert. Software programs are now available that let the everyday camera owner play with their pictures and use them to make all sorts of creative projects.

The advantages of digital photography are great. You have instant gratification with your pictures. You can immediately see the picture you’ve taken on the LCD screen and retake it if you’re not happy.

Since you are able to delete photos that you do not want, you have the freedom to shoot many photos of the same scene, and just keep the one or two that turned out the best. Once you discover this, you have another great way to capture memories.

You no longer have to shoot a whole roll of film just to get a few good pictures. With digital photography, you only print the best shots. You can use your home printer or get professionally done prints at sites like snapfish.com and other.

You also have many, many options with digital images. Whether it's 4-by-6-inch prints to put in your photo album, homemade greeting cards printed on your inkjet printer, or sharing your photos online, digital photography opens up a whole new world of options for your memories.

You’d think photography was made ultimately easy and a no-brainer with these digital miracles and it really is easier than it ever has been. However, the truth is that there are still fine points, tips, and tricks to learn so you can be sure the pictures you are taking will be everything you want and more.

Professional photographers know about this, it’s time you should too! What better satisfaction than being able to take your own family photos and not have to worry about going to a studio to have them taken.

We’re not saying that photography studios aren’t capable – oh to the contrary. There will be moments you’ll want captured by the professional, but in general, digital photography has made those kinds of trips and events drastically reduced!

Introduction to Algorithms, 2nd Edition Ebook

There are books on algorithms that are rigorous but incomplete and others that cover masses of material but lack rigor. Introduction to Algorithms combines rigor and comprehensiveness.

The book covers a broad range of algorithms in depth, yet makes their design and analysis accessible to all levels of readers. Each chapter is relatively self-contained and can be used as a unit of study. The algorithms are described in English and in a pseudocode designed to be readable by anyone who has done a little programming. The explanations have been kept elementary without sacrificing depth of coverage or mathematical rigor.

The first edition became the standard reference for professionals and a widely used text in universities worldwide. The second edition features new chapters on the role of algorithms, probabilistic analysis and randomized algorithms, and linear programming, as well as extensive revisions to virtually every section of the book. In a subtle but important change, loop invariants are introduced early and used throughout the text to prove algorithm correctness. Without changing the mathematical and analytic focus, the authors have moved much of the mathematical foundations material from Part I to an appendix and have included additional motivational material at the beginning.

Every 10 years or so a new approach to programming hits like a tsunami. In the early 1980s, the new technologies were Unix, which could be run on a desktop, and a powerful new language called C, developed by AT&T. The early 90's brought Windows and C++. Each of these developments represented a sea change in the way you approached programming. .NET and C# are the next wave, and this book is intended to help you ride it.

Microsoft has `bet the company' on .NET. When a company of their size and influence spends billions of dollars and reorganizes its entire corporate structure to support a new platform, it is reasonable for programmers to take notice. It turns out that .NET represents a major change in the way you'll think about programming. It is, in short, a new development platform designed to facilitate object-oriented Internet development. The programming language of choice for this object-oriented Internet-centric platform is C# which builds on the lessons learned from C (high
performance), C++ (object-oriented structure), Java (security), and Visual Basic (rapid development) to create a new language ideally suited for developing component-based n-tier distributed web applications.

About This Book

This book is a tutorial, both on C# and on writing .NET applications with C#. Part I focuses on the details of the language. If you are already proficient in a programming language, you may be able to skim this section, but be sure to read through Chapter 1, which provides an overview of the language and the .NET platform. If you are new to programming, you'll want to read the book as the King of Hearts instructed the White Rabbit: "Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the end: then stop."

Preface

Most Internet technologies are designed for desktop computers or enterprise servers running on reliable networks with relatively high bandwidth. Handheld wireless devices, on the other hand, have a more constrained computing environment. They tend to have less memory, less powerful CPUs, different input devices, and smaller displays.

Since the mid-1990s, various architectures and protocols have been introduced to deal with these constraints. The Wireless Application Protocol (or WAP), which is a specification developed by the WAP Forum (http://www.wapforum.org), takes advantage of several data-handling approaches already in use. Developing wireless applications using WAP technologies is similar to developing Web pages with a markup language (e.g., HTML or XML) because WAP technologies are browser-based.

Another approach to developing wireless applications is to use the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME ). The Java programming language already plays an important role in modern programming. With WAP, you can use Java servlets and JavaServer Pages to generate Wireless Markup Language (WML) pages dynamically. However, with J2ME, you can now write applications in Java and store them directly on a cell phone. This adds a whole new dimension to wireless programming.

1 Tell your target audience you were in their current position. Next, tell them how your product pulled you out of that position. For example, you could say in your ad copy, "Don't worry, I used to be just like you. I was way over my head in debt. But I decided to create a financial formula so no one else would ever go through all the pain and humiliation of bankruptcy like I did."

2 Challenge your readers at the end of your ad. Make a bet with them; if your product doesn't solve their problem, offer them a free product in return. People love to gamble and most are greedy. You’re just using it to your advantage so you can sell them your product or service. Some people like to gamble just because it's fun.

3 Get your audience involved in your ad by asking them questions. They'll automatically want to answer the questions in their mind. For example, you could say in your ad copy, "Where do you want to be weight-wise in the next 5 months?" Another example, "Do you want to weigh that much or more 2 years from now?"

4 Introduce yourself in your ad copy. Haven't you ever read ad copy and wondered who was selling the product halfway through? It's a big turn-off. For example, you could say, "Hello my name is (your name and a little about yourself).” Another example, "It's (your name) here, I'm going to tell you about..."

People love email. They love to send email and they love to receive email...well, they don’t like to receive all email. The general computing public developed a real dislike for SPAM and that distinct hatred of SPAM brought about the CAN SPAM ACT.

Email marketing depends on....well....email. When the CAN SPAM ACT was enacted, many email marketers simply folded their tents and slipped away into the night. Others began to search for ways to comply with the act but only just barely. Others started thinking of ways to use the act to their advantage....those were the smart ones.

Email marketing is alive and well today. There are those who say that email marketing is thriving IN SPITE OF the CAN SPAM ACT. There are also those who say that email marketing is thriving BECAUSE OF the CAN SPAM ACT.

Effective email marketing is a science or maybe it’s an art form. In either case, the CAN SPAM ACT certainly didn’t harm email marketers and it could be that it was actually an unexpected benefit. It’s the knowing how that matters, so read on.

The Great Plains.

AS a fitting introduction to some of the personal incidents and sketches which I shall hereafter present to the readers of the Galaxy, a brief description of the country in which these events transpired may not be deemed inappropriate.

It is but a few years ago that every schoolboy, supposed to possess the rudiments of a knowledge of the geography of the United States, could give the boundaries and a general description of the Great American Desert. As to the boundary the knowledge seemed to be quite explicit: on the north bounded by the Upper Missouri, on the east by the Lower Missouri and Mississippi, on the south by Texas, and on the west by the Rocky Mountains. The boundaries on the northwest and south remained undisturbed, while on the east civilization, propelled and directed by Yankee enterprise, adopted the motto: Westward the star of empire takes its way. Countless throngs of emigrants crossed the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, selecting homes in the rich and fertile territories lying beyond. Each year this tide of emigration, strengthened and increased by the flow from foreign shores, advanced toward the setting sun, slowly but surely narrowing the preconceived limits of the Great American Desert, and correspondingly enlarging the limits of civilization. At last the geographical myth was dispelled. It was gradually discerned that the Great American Desert did not exist, that it had no abiding place, but that within its supposed limits and instead of what had been regarded as a sterile and unfruitful tract of land incapable of sustaining either man or beast there existed the fairest and richest portion of the national domain, blessed with a climate pure, bracing, and healthful, while its undeveloped soil rivalled if it did not surpass the most productive portions of the eastern, middle, or southern states.

The stranger came early in February one wintry day, through a biting wind and a driving snow, the last snowfall of the year, over the down, walking as it seemed from Bramblehurst railway station and carrying a little black portmanteau in his thickly gloved hand. He was wrapped up from head to foot, and the brim of his soft felt hat hid every inch of his face but the shiny tip of his nose; the snow had piled itself against his shoulders and chest, and added a white crest to the burden he carried. He staggered into the Coach and Horses, more dead than alive as it seemed, and flung his portmanteau down. "A fire," he cried, "in the name of human charity! A room and a fire!" He stamped and shook the snow from off himself in the bar, and followed Mrs.

Hall into her guest parlour to strike his bargain. And with that much introduction, that and a ready acquiescence to terms and a couple of sovereigns flung upon the table, he took up his quarters in the inn.

This title's main subject is "to be born again of Water and the Spirit." It has the originality on the subject. In other words, this book clearly tells us what being born again is and how to be born again of water and the Spirit in strict accordance with the Bible. The water symbolizes the baptism of Jesus at the Jordan and the Bible says that all our sins were passed on to Jesus when He was baptized by John the Baptist. John was the representative of all mankind and a descendant of Aaron the High priest. Aaron laid his hands on the head of the scapegoat and passed all the yearly sins of the Israelites on the Day of Atonement. It is a shadow of the good things to come. The baptism of Jesus is the antitype of the laying on of hands. Jesus was baptized in the form of the laying on of hands at the Jordan. So He took away all the sins of the world through His baptism and was crucified to pay for the sins. But most Christians don't know why Jesus baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan. Jesus' baptism is the keyword of this book, and the indispensable part of the Gospel of Water and the Spirit. We can be born again only by believing in the baptism of Jesus and His Cross.
